Hi Guys,
Just got a Panasonic A05. I have a number of MPEGs that I have used to create VCDs.
Do I need to do anything special for them to burn on a DVD? Do I need to merge them together? Do I need to reconvert them to MPEG2?
Just not sure of what is required.
Thanks

You can reuse your MPEG-1 files for DVD without converting in MPEG-2.
I use Videopack 5 and it considers every file I give it to be not standard because of multiplexing. It remux the files before creating the disc image, so I think that VCD files must be remuxed as well.
Your app may do it automatically, without warning you about this problem. -
The only change you need to make to a VCD compliant mpeg-1 file to make it DVD compatible is you must re-sample the audio at 48khz. There are plenty of tools that will do this for you. It should then be accepted by any DVD authoring program. Some may do this conversion for you.

Ifoedit 0.95 can author your vcd's without the need to convert the audio,it will accept 44100 audio. since it can only process one movie you will need to join them first.

OK Thanks
In order to resample the audio, do I use TMPGENC? Open the old MPG load the DVD template and convert? Or is there an easier and/or less time consuming way? -
Use TmpGenc mpeg-tools to demultiplex the audio and video into seperate files. The take the mp2 file and use any decent audio editor (such as goldwave) to resamplr to 48khz. Save as wav. Then re-convert this wav back to mp2 using TmpGenc, HeadAc3he or Besweet. You may the re-multiplex or use a DVD authoring package that accepts seperate streams.
Hope this helps
