I'm now addicted to VCD Help, as I'm here on a daily basis. I have but one desire now. Is it possible to add a Software Reviews section to the site, similar to the DVD Writers and Capture Cards feedback sections where users can post feedback on the tons of different programs out there, what works for who and how?

I'd love to know more about all the different Ulead programs for example from people who've used them. And the opportunity to trash Sonic MyDVD would be good too.

Hmm...I have thought about that before....the best would be to remake the tools section, add it in a database and also make so you can post user comments and rating similiar to the other lists.

anything special you want in the list?

    name
link to tool (i do not host any software)
    description
    type (free software,shareware and so)
section ( encoder, player and so)
    rating
    user posts

it should only take a few hours to fix...and it is no problem to add new features in the future. I maybe will make so you have to use your forum username and password to post.

remember though that many user comments will be questions about the software.

Perhaps set it up just like the Capture Cards, DVD Media, DVD Players etc. feedback categories. Users can identify what operating systems the software works on, can you format VCD/SVCD/DVD, does it support menus (motion, etc.), that kind of stuff.

All the Dazzle, Ulead, etc DVD authoring/building programs sometimes make my head spin. I'd like to have that one stop location like with the DVD Writers category for example where I can go see what does what, and for how much.

Plus, you can link the commercial programs to the price search feature and pull in a few more bucks.

Have to say, I love this idea.

I would include a specific message that questions about the software are to be posted in the forums, and the review section is *only* for reviews (but then again, I've seen questions in the hardware sections, so some people are always going to be clueless...)

But a section full of reviews of software would be much easier to deal with than searching the forums, at least for basic overviews, ease of use, learning curve, etc....

If you add this, it'll make a great site even better!

keep up the good work Baldrick.

Okey, like a dvd authoring tools comparison list with user comments. It would be nice but it requires a bit more work...or much much much more work. I maybe could begin with only user comment for all tools and then in the future maybe add specific feateures for some tools.
