I was one of the stupid people that purchased Record Now. They DO NOT support SVCD. But they do support making coasters.

They advertise doing video, but do some non-compliant VCD stuff. Basically it is the wors product with the best looking wizard in the market place.

    It sucks.

RecordNow and RecordNow MAX are not the same program! RecordNow Max 4.5,is better than Nero,in my opinion!Since I have a dvd burner I no longer make vcds,so I have not tried it.

Since I have both Nero and Reocrd Now Max 4.5, I'm sorry but comparing it to Nero is like comparing a plastic knife to a swiss army knife.

You must only be using it for audio. For simple functions it will work, but ..

    1. Record Now Max -
Video - Record Now Max - Does NOT support SVCD !! Don't be milead by the marketing on the front page, which is non-specific.
    2. Record Now Max - can figure out VBR audio MP3s, which is a standard MP3 format. Creates coasters before you figure that out. Therefore Lame create VBR MP3s get all screwed up in there. Can't burn.
    3. RNM - Has no labeling functions whatsover !! That would not be so bad if you could product a standard M3U file or some sort of playlist to bring into some software like every single burning problem made to print CD covers, labels.
    4. RNM has the most cryptic error messages there are. There is one and only one engineer who works for them who knows anything and he sent me a list of what they mean. None of this is documentated.
    5. RNM royally messed up burning of ISO files, I needed some support because all of this is undocumented anyway, now I understand how to fudge it.
    6. RNM - Bad to non-existent tech support. Forum is heavily moderated where posts many times never make it and one has to wait a long time to get post on.
    7. RNM - Just so extremely limited on functionality and options of any burner out.
    8. RNM - Wont break copy-protection
    9. I have had it tell me many times that a CD is not good, then I take it to Media Jukebox or Nero or Feurio to burn.
    10. RNM - They take more time to have any upgrades than any PC related product I have ever seen. Maybe you will see one once every 6 months. This is because they are distributed by Stomp, but Stomp does none of the development or changes.
    11. RNM support policy - Not that it would ever help, but after 30 days, any call in support is chargable.

In summary, the most limited burner out, commercial or free. Worst Tech support in business. I have to admit though, it has the friendliest front end wizard of any burner. The problem is when you need to go past there and need some flexability. I think it is no exaggeration that it has about 1/100th of the functionality of Nero. And it is not like I am in love with Nero, but Record Now Max is an entry level product with limited functionality.

  5. Thanks Jolo, I don't like Nero because it's manu so simple. And Ulead DVD Movie Factory & Workshop sometime so crazy, it require to re-encode mpeg-2 file, even when I use standard template from LSX or Mainconcept. I don't know what burning programe is better then Nero. 2months ago, I used VOB Instant to burn mpeg-2 (standard template from TMPGEnc), but it's the same like Ulead. Could you tell me something about better programe ?

  6. I used RecordNow Max for about 3 months until I discovered that the programs verification process doesn't do a good job of verifying the files. I couldn't figure why towards the end of the movie there was stops and blockiness.

I ended up with to many coasters.

Nero was buggy before 5.5 but since 5.9 I haven't had a coaster yet. Nero also verifies the discs the way they should be verified.

    Tony08,
Feel free to e-mail me. I've burnt scores of videos using TMPG and Nero to burn. I have purchase LSX as well, but I keep going back to TMPG for encoding and Nero for burning. Nero burns perfectly with into VCD and SVCD as long as the MPEG files are totally VCD or SVCD complient. E-mail me and maybe we can compare notes and I could find out what is going on.
I'm very curious about the Nero version as well as the TMPG settings.

    damnim
    I agree, I agree, I agree !!
Record Now Max has more holes in it, then New York roads have potholes. That is a clasic Record Now Max story when things are messed up, but you might not know right away. I think it does a real fine job or coasters. The one VCD that I did burn in RNM was really bad, but that software is so limited and has so many problems.
