If you have the Nimo Codec Pack Installed, I strongly suggest to uninstall it. It caused problems for me with XVID files. Also download the latest decoder from hxxp://roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml
If you can play the file without problems in media player, you can increase the priority of the directshow filter in tmpgenc under option->environmental setting->vfapi. It then should work. Good luck with it!

  4. I have exactly the same problem. I have the latest xvid codec installed and it doesn't help.

I'm also having problems with VirtualDub and this format. I can't seem to join xvid movies, the audio is skewed from the video causing a lip sync error.

Using VirtualDub to uncompress the audio to a WAV and then create a new Vid with the original video + the WAV also causes a lip sync error.

In fact everything I've tried so far causes audio / video sync problems.

    Mr frustrated.

  5. I went through some of these same problems. First of all you need to decompress the audio so that you can do your editing in vdub. Do this by setting video to direct stream copy and audio to full processing and audio compression to no compression PCM. Then go to file-save avi. This should enable you to work with the file in vdub.
Next TMPGE needs its VFAPI settings changed and if you search this web site you will find what to change them to.

  6. I tried all of that including decompressing the audio. Nothing seemed to work. The only thing I've found that works is using DVD2SVCD. Don't know why it should work better but it does? Good guide in for how to do it available at this site.

I just ran into the same problem with a file downloaded off of kazaa. The file has currupt frames in it and when I decompress the audio and try to edit out the bad frames the audio falls out of sync. The only way I can think to fix this is to find a copy that is not currupt or to stip the audio, cut out the bad pieces in the video and try to realign the audio to the video by editing the audio as well. It might be easier to try and find a file that doesn't have the currupt frames though. This is the first file that I have run into that you couldn't edit the decompressed audio and video in vdub and not have sync problems.

If you have VBR audio you should use VirtualDub MP3 freeze
    to edit the avi

I've posted my solution before but not had any feedback as to whether it works for others, All I did was to use 4CC changer to change the header on the file.
After I did this I had no problems at-all.

    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/avifourcc.html

Import your file (make a copy just in case), In 'used codec' I typed divx and then used the new modified file to encode with......It worked for me.

    Good luck.
