    I just tried to backup one of my dvd's and when i was ripping it, the process stopped half way through and said something like "bad sectors". Tried Smartripper and dvd decrypter still the same. any ideas how to get around this?

    Find another disc, e.g. rental version.

    When normal playback works and you have the proper equipment you also try to capture the output signal.
