  1. After installing the DVD Movie Factory 2, TMPGEnc (2.510.49.157) and Nero (5.5.9.9) both crash when I try to open an MPG2 file. I have uninstalled MF2, Nero and TMPGEnc and reinstalled TMPGEnc and the MPG2 codec and it still crashes. I also tried installing PowerDVD 4 to no avail.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

  2. No ideas from anyone? Really? Any idea what could have caused it?

What's weird is I get only the Windows "tmpgenc has encountered an error and must be shut down" with TMPGEncd, but with Nero, I get no message at all. It just disappears.

    I'm going nuts.

  4. Nope, still no luck. Interestingly, suddenly Nero can handle MPEG2 again, but I don't know why. Tmpgenc still crashes, usually immediately upon opening an MPEG2. I've tried TMPGEnc 2.58, 2.59, and Plus 2.510.

I've tried uninstalling MF2, both DVD players (WinDVD and PowerDVD), Tmpgenc, and Nero, and reinstalling just TMPGenc Plus, but no go. I reinstalled PowerDVD, too.

I've installed the Nimo Codec Pack and the LSX MPEG player (trying to get the Ligos codec installed.. maybe that's not right?)

Is there some sort of codec checker/uninstaller/cleaner program out there?

    Thanks,
    Stevo

  6. Installing DVD Movie Factory 2 also played havoc with my system.

TMPGEnc could not load an AVI, and MyDVD could not do anything in terms of preparing a new project. In connection with MyDVD I had to keep moving a copy of the .dll identified in the error message into the proper subdirectory, retry, copy the next .dll, and so forth until I finally got them all (I hope).

As far as TMPGEnc, I had to entirely delete the program and reinstall, but that took care of things for me.

Citizenship comment to be added to DVDMF2's report card: Does not play well with others.

    Good luck.

    Regards,
    Eric J
