Hi, I am trying to convert an xvid film that i have got to mpeg2, i have joined the to parts together and extracted the wav files from both of them and joined them together. However, when i am encoding it in tmpgenc the screen goes black and nothing can be seen on the screen. I then played it back and it went black 7mins into the film, ohhh you can still hear the sound but you can see anything...Does anyone have any ideas on whats going on and how to solve this problem?!
Thanks

Have you tried change the directshow priority?
Installed new xvid codecs? -
everything is fine now....but the introduction is still green when i use! but the rest of the film is fine
YEAH!!!
Thanks for the reply and help!Smokey :D -
Hmm, I am in the exact same situation. Are you saying that even though your preview window was green, it converted to MPEG-2 and played back just fine?
I've upped my DirectShow priority and installed the NIMO codec pack, and I'm sure my XVid codec is up to date, but my window is still green.
Is there an MPEG-2 codec out there to install? I'm not sure if one was in the NIMO pack...The MPEG-2 codec link is broken on the codec page.
EDIT: I uninstalled NIMO and the green went away, hopefully my preview window doesn't black out this time... -
Yeah i thought that changing the things in the environmental settings in TMPGENc had sorted out my problem but the video is still green and fuzzy and the shots overlap each other....Dont know whats going on here!!
ThanksSmokey :D -
I'm not having any luck converting my XVid file(s) to MPEG-2. I'll detail exactly what I'm doing, maybe someone can help me out:
-I have one movie in two 700mb Xvid files.
-First I tried merging them, but later decided that it would be best to burn the movie to two DVD-Rs, it's a long movie. (Will DVD+Rs work with TMPGEnc?)
-I open VirtualDub to isolave the .WAV files.
-I set the audio to Full Processing Mode
-Under "Compression" I select "<No compression (PCM)>"
-I choose a sampling rate of 44100Hz
-I save the .WAV files for each one.
-Then I switch over to TMPGEnc to start encoding.
-After I select the video & audio files, I check the framerate (23.976) and make sure "Film movie" is selected as the Content of Video.
-I set the Video Arrange Method to "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)"
-I set the bitrate to the highest possible, making the total filesize about 4050mb.
Then when I start encoding, it gets to about 8% before the preview window either blacks out, or freezes in place. It always seems to freeze right at 8%.
Like I said earlier, my XVid and DivX codecs are up to date. I untinstalled NIMO as there was some conflict with my existing XVid codec (I think). I haven't downloaded any MPEG-2 plug-ins or codecs, as I don't really know anything about them, or if I need to download them at all.
Any tips? Also, does anyone know of another good program to use instead of TMPGEnc? Will DVD+R work?
EDIT: I've noticed from playing my partially completed file, that while the video freezes exactly where it did in the TMPGEnc preview, that audio continues. -
I bet this movie is TTT.
And it has some corrupt frames in it.
Scan it first with VD and remove the bad frames.
And haddob, if your making DVD´s you have to have a sampling rate of 48000 -
Thanks Rambo
I scanned it with Vdub, then read a short tutorial that said I should use Vdub MP3 because these files have VBR. The program crased while scanning
I'm not sure about the Vdub MP3 program I got, is there a particular version I should look for?
Wizzy, here is KingJohn's tutorial:

Let me know if you have any luck. -
Haddob
VD Mp3 also crashes for me sometimes, but for this particular movie VD mp3 crashes at frame 11263 right?? This means that frame 11263 is really bad and when you know that you can move to the nearest keyframes and cut it out.
