Since I used Bitsetter to set my DVD+Rs to DVD-Rom, I can't burn any working DVD+Rs anymore. They don't even play in my PC.Is there any way to reset this (it's a Philips DVD write 228K)?It's impossible with the bitsetter tool, I'm always getting an error message.Would FW update help?

  2. i am not sure what bitsetter is but have you tried going into your device manager and deleting the dvdrw and then restarting your computer so that it can reinstall it again? it's worth a shot.

Bitsetter is this tool from DVD+RW consortium, which tells any DVD player, that a particular DVD+R/W is a DVD-Rom by setting the appropiate Bit in the DVD.I think it's patches the DVD burner's FW directly, but removing the device is certainly a good shot.I'll try it.

  4. If it patches the firmware then the only option is to put a new firmware in your drive. I hope this is not the case because most software will not put the same firmware number in the drive (or older).

I patched the FW (again) and all Bitsetter stuff is removed! So it's quite likely, that the FW was patched.

Update: after RW update and BitSetter removed, I now am able to produce readable DVD+Rs again.
