  1. Converted a file to vcd, tested the mpeg (was worried about sync probs), everything played fine. Burned it to cd with nero (twice cause someone else wanted a copy) ...

Did not play. WinDVD says "The file number 1 has invalid format".

Decided to copy the dat file to my HD to convert back to mpeg, but windows says "cannot copy AVSEQ01.dat: Inavlid MSDOS function".

Tried a conversion direct from cd: VCDGear says no videostream detected and VCDGear GUI just hangs.

Any advice or am I just screwed? (deleted original mpeg file)

  2. Well, I hope someone can help a bit cause this is gonna be screwd up

Even did a recovery on my HD to try to find the original MPEG file, but it not there Anyway...

Here is what I have accomplished:

    1. Copied the dat file over to HD by making a CloneCD image on the HD (Nero kept going into erors)
    2. Tried to extract with isobuster - NG Unreadable format
    3. Renamed the img file to bin and used vcd gear to extract the mpeg from the bin file - it actually worked but ...
    4. Produced 14 separate video/ streams. They all played in MediaPlayer, but don't know if complete.
    5. Tried to merge the files in TMGEnc, but says they are not MPEG files and won't merge them
    6. Am now in the process of recoding all 14 files in TMGEnc and will try merging them again.

This is really screwed up ... lol

There must be a better way, if anyone knows it cause this sux!!!

When using vcdgear go to options, and under the general tab tick off disable mpeg file splitting. That way you end up with one mpeg not 14. Next time don't delete your source files before playing the vcd....... Can sometimes end up with corrupt dat files
you know it's the anti-Midas touch when all you touch goes to shit..............
