  1. Hi.. this is the first time I got this...after ripping the movie (region 1 ntsc foreign movie)using dvd decrypter with individual streams (m2v,ac3) I reied to import them to spruceup and also in maestro I'm getting the same error as follows..

"low_delay" bit in MPEG-2 sequence extension is turned on(=1). It should be off(=0) for dvd use(0xc1070049)

what the hack is that... I've ripped several movies using dvd decrypter and this is the forst time I get this... I also tried once again with dvd decrypter ripped vobs and then bobedit to demux the audio video streams and import to sprucewith.. but same error.... can anyone help.... what's wrong and how to solve this...??

There is a "bit" in the MPEG2 EXTENSION HEADER (byte offset 01B5H) that needs to be "0" (the "low delay" bit). I don't know of any program that will allow you to change this (it is set by the encoder), but you could probably use a HEX EDITOR to change the bit. You are going to have to do the research to determine what you are going to have to change. (See members.aol.com/mpucoder/DVD/mpeghdrs.html#seq for all the info you may need.) You may be able to change this in the .VOBs with VOBEDIT (you can see the header info, and may be able to change it).

LOW DELAY is the absence of "B" type frames in a GOP, which is NOT allowed in a DVD. Probably, someone at the studio thought that this would make doing what you are going to do a little more difficult.

  3. thnkx slk001 for the reply... I checked the link you mention... still doesn't help me much... I doubt that they did it on purpose of making it hard to copy because the dvd has no copy protection scheme and its all regions... and I can still copy the entire dvd using nero (had to remove menu and extra to fit in one dvd-r)I was just trying to add a simple menu in maestro instead of just the movie and I ran in to tis problem... anyway I haven't tried vobedit method yet but still not sure what to change..
    thanks anyway...

I encountered the same problem (low_delay bit error) while using SpruceUp. The only way I could use this video file (m2v) was via reencoding. I am wondering if there is another way!! Using VOBEdit to fix the extension header would be sweet, but how? I can see the place where the low_delay bit is set to 1 (it should be zero for DVD spec) after opeing the file with VOBEdit and clicking on the second line that says GOP. However, I cannot change the low_delay bit. Has anybody encountered this problem and know how to resolve it.

    Thanks.

  5. your right options2000 I was able to find the low delay field but when I double click it says item not editable..I don't want to reencode the movie just not worth the time spent on reencoding I can rather live with just the movie part on my dvd-r without the menu...
    anyone else have any suggestions...?

That's not where you edit it with VOBEdit.

    Click on this line:
    [0010] Sequence_Extension (Some decimal numbers) [14 82 00 01 00 80].

Change the last "80" byte to "00".

You need to check to see if your stream really IS "low delay". If so, then it probably won't play on a DVD player. Bitrate Viewer gives the structure of your stream. So does ReMPEG2 (in the log).[/img]

  7. learning something new everyday. Thanks slk... I tried your suggestion slk001 and It worked sort off.. now I was able to demux the vobs to m2v and ac3 and imported them to maestro and in spruceup without any problem but... when I checked it shows only the half the m2v on the time scale although the filesize is correct the movie length was only the half (almost exactly half) and audio was full length.. how did that happened..
    help..
