  1. ok i got some mpg files which i want to convert to divx 5
    anybody has an idea if this is possible never done it before and i couldnt find much by searching the forums

  2. Of course you can! I've done it several times with good results, with both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. All you need is encoding software such as Virtual Dub, TMPGEnc, FlaskMPEG, Xmpeg, or a lovely program for newbies, DVDX. Under output/video settings (depends on program), select the DivX 5.02 codec, select advanced optioons and set the video bitrate (or resize/crop resolution if you like). I haven't found a DivX 5+ bitrate calculator yet, but any divx 4 calculator does a fairly good job at calculating and average bitrate needed, only that one can expect slightly smaller file sizes that what the calculator expects. Save and encode your avi and you have a high quality divx file at less that half the size of the original mpeg file! Good luck!

    but after a few minutes vdb stops working like its froze or something
    any ideas

    gonna try some other progs
