First I want to state that I'm not a programmer and can not even spell my name in VB. If you think about all the encode's that we use to make VCD SVCD and DVD-R are not really made to convert MPEG2 back to MPEG2 they are but not really. First panasonic and CCE for ADODE premiere are really made to convert AVI and to a MPEG format. Resize AVI to another format. TMPG Same thing convert AVI to a MPEG format. even with CCE or TMPG you have to use program's like DVD2AVi so they can read the VOB file's. Making CCE or TMPG route every thing that DVD2AVI file made just to read the VOB file's. With DVD2ONE i think this programmer start fresh code and did not use other program's to help out his program ever thing that this program Is DVD2ONE. If you look at DVD2SVCD it use's a ton of other add on's to get the job done. Those program's are not made by DVD2SVCD. So the Speed can only go as fast as those people that programmed those program's. Same thing with DVD2DVD-R has to use other program's that DVD2DVD-R had nothingto do with. So DVD2DVD-R will only go as fast as the people that programmed it. DVD2ONE is all fresh code I think and it was just made to convert MPEG2 back to another small size MPEG2.

actually the way DVD2ONE works is something similar to CCE and TMPGEnc...
you know how there is a Q factor...well, if you set it at say 100 CCE will run MUCH faster than if you set it at say 20.
infact, if you tweak the settings you can get CCE to encode faster than DVD2ONE...
and that infact is why a lot of people experience quality problems with DVD2ONE...it pays attention to speed rather than quality with a higher Q factor...
if you read the CCE manual then you will know what I am talking about here...and you will realize that DVD2ONE really is nothing new...although quite innovative -
it is still a bucket load better than ReMPEG2 though....although I noticed one thing. I used DVD2One on a movie and then stripped the m2v file and imported it into Maestro. The timings were all wrong and I had to use the "add 1 hour" trick to get the chapters to import (and even then the chapter points were 4 GOP's out).
(in case you were wondering...I have an old and very picky dvd player that only accepts homemade DVD's made with maestro.....so far)

Actually DVD2one works directly with MPEG vectors, however CCE and TMPGEnc reconstruct completely MPEG frames (I, P, and B). That is why you cannot use new m2v files created with CCE and/or TMPGEnc with Ifoedit remux option. DVD2one works similar to REMpeg...
