    Hi
I'm using DivX Pro and PowerDirector Pro.
I am new to DivX capture. Can someone tell me the some good settings to use for good quality and small files.
For some reason 5.03 has taken the quality based 1 pass out of the codec. But I can change back to 5.02 if that is the best method.

Any help for a newbie to DivX capturing appreciated.

I've done some dabbling with quite good results but don't really know what I'm doing.
My captures don't open in Divx player either. But they do in all my other media players.

    Cheers

    Hi
I don't want to capture to mjpeg and convert later!!

I usually capture at high resolution and bitrate mpeg2. Then encode down to SVCD or VCD after. I get excellent results.

For this project I am just loking at a quick way of capturing reasonable quality DivX videos that I don't have to play around with after.
I have all ready got some good results by playing around with the settings but I don't really know what they do.
There must be someone out there doing this kind of thing.

  4. I've been using a CBR of around 2000-4000 with Divx5 and then encode to VCD using TMPGenc. Haven't done much with it yet, still playing around. Oh, and using the MJPEG thing works great but it eats up my hardrive. Divx is much better and looks good for a master too. With tv broadcast it's not worth doing such high quality capturing to MJPEG. Maybe with DVD sources but not tv.

    Hi
What sound settings do u use?
    Obviously I can't use Mp3 if I encode after.
I don't actually plan to encode anyhow but am interested.

So is bitrate the only setting I need to play with???

    I have done 1000 bitrate and 44000 128 Mp3 sound 352 x 288.
They look really good considering the size of the file.

    Cheers

  6. I usually use the PCM 44.1 cd quality mode since the file is only a master recording before encoding to VCD or KVCD. I am going to try a new program called ACP from over at www.kvcd.net. It does the sampling and determines the CQ factor and fits it onto how many cd's you specify. Most of the time the Windvr does fine for tv captures.
