  1. The problems are towards the last few minutes of the svcd the vid starts stuttering and pausing.

The bin/cue files created by vcdeasy average 780+megs, and I am using imation 80min blanks. (maybe i'll try a different brand.)

I bought a new pioneer dv 250 and it does the same thing.

I've used both 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 versions to author svcds.

I create svcds using dvd2svcd w/cce and flask w/cce. SVCD plays find on wm9.

    Anyone run into this problem??

    Thanks.

Yes - I had this happen often - as the blank CD quality varies with brands and prices, the burning process becomes important.

I was burning at a speed of 24x and I read an article that spoke about improving the sound quality of music CDs by burning at lower speeds, I thought this may also apply to video. I lowered the burning speed to 12x and I have not had the problem since - always a perfect result.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks bunyip.

I tried the lower burning speed method also (52x to 24x) and it didn't make a difference. So I bought some sony cdr's and now there no problem. Guess the batch of imations disc can't overburn very well.

I need to buy more sony's.

    Thanks.

  4. 1) it depends not only on the particular brand of CDs, but the standalone itself.
    2) videoCDs are recorded in mode 2, which means - no crc correction, that is why you should record them as slow as possible. Personally I record them at 4x on my LiteOn 48x24x48. Are you in a such hurry to chose 24x ??? I guess - no.
    3) if sony's work for you, that's OK, but they might not be Sony at all )
For example, I have a box of Sony's, bought in Japan, and NERO reports for them, some other manufacturer (unknown to me)
    4) in the documents describing overburning, they say that ANY CD must be ok in overburning at least 90 seconds !
The disks I have tryed till now, can overburn about 2 minutes and 20 seconds (reported by NERO) but I always try to be within the 90 seconds.
However, if the last minute of the movie is only notices, than who cares...
    Best wishes,
