  1. I purchased TMPGEnc Plus and installed on my W2K machine after doing a clean system install.

I have DVD player software which came with my video card (MSI G4 Ti4200).

for some reason, TMPGEnc won't load .m2v, .m2a files (pulled from my Tivo). in the past they did load (the reason I bought the Plus version was for MPEG-2).

In the environment variables, there isn't a listing for MPEG-2; when I installed the program on my machine at work, there is a listing for the Cyberlink MPEG-2 decoder - and the program works from my office.

In both cases, the register VFAPI is checked.

So, what do I need to do (I'd rather not install another DVD player) to get the machine to recognize that the Plus version is supposed to read MPEG-2?

    Thanks All

You need the MPEG-2 codec. You can get it by installing a software DVD player, or getting one of the codecs in the download section.

  3. I was under the impression that the PLUS version had the codecs built-in.

Do I really need an external codec?

  4. It has an mpeg2 encoder, but not a decoder. So yes you need to install an mpeg2 codec.
