  1. OK, I know I'm being dense here. I've been through the whole process of taking a DVD, ripping it to the VOB files, getting those into an AVI and WAV file, then combining those into one avi file.

However, now that I've sort of gotten the "bug", as it were, I'm wanting to try and get as much encoding done during the nights when I'm sleeping as possible.

Does VirtualDub, (the program I'm taking the AVI and WAV files into) have a "batch" feature? (In other words, does VirtualDub have a way to queue up a couple of newly created AVI and WAV files on after the other?

The nnly other choice that I can see if to actially set the alarm for every four hours or so, hauling into the computer, and getting the next one set to go...

    Help?

When you do File/Save as AVI......where you name and save the file to has a box to check for batch encoding ( I think it says, do not run, so to process or somthing, it's the only box you cna check ).

It's real slick for 2-pass work. Settup first pass, save it as say...1pass.avi, and batch it. Then just re-adjust you codec for 2nd pass (don't forget to change your sound settings) then save as 2pass.avi and batch it. You can keep going if you want, most I ever batched was 10 2-pass encodes ( 20 toatal passes ). You can get real slick and save each first pass stats with an appropriate name in case you have to go back an re-do the 2nd pass ( too big/small in DivX case ).

Go to file/job contral and select run......come back when finished. This is nice for me. I settup at night before bed, then check the next day when I get home, that gives me a 20 hour encoding window when I'm not using the computer for other things.....dead time is our friend
