  1. im using vdub to do a 2-pass xvid encode at 512x384 29.97fps. im trying to figure out how to get a good bitrate.. all vdub gives me to fill in is "Desired size (Kbtyes)" ... how should i determine what to fill this in w/? and whats a good bitrate for me to use?

  2. The answer depends on a couple of things.

    First and foremost; how many CD's do you want to put the video on. Second what kind of video quality do you want?

    The last version of VDub I used was 1.3c and I don't recall a "Desired Size (Kbytes)" prompt. but it sounds like it's asking you the total size you want to end up with, eg. 1400 MB for two cd's.

  3. 1 cd.. best noticeable quality and im running vdub 1.4.13

    from the way it sounds.. i drew to the same conclusion (about it meaing the total size)... but im trying to set the encode quality based on the bit rate not the concluding file size.

  4. Well, since the encoding bitrate depends on the length of the movie and the final output size, EG. media size divided by number of seconds of video it doesn't really matter how you look at it you're still going to get the same answer.
