  1. Hi,

I have a Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Xp Deluxe and I'm trying to install the Btwincap-drivers in my Windows XP-system.

The installer stops after a while and I get a error message. Something like this: The installer can't install the drivers, try to install the drivers manually.

When I'm trying to install the drivers manually, I get the following error message from XP: Cannot install this hardware, access is denied.

I've tried several driver-settings and I've tried to create the drivers manually (without the installer ànd with btspy) but nothing seems to work. My card is compatible with the btwincap-driver, so I think it's a windows XP problem. The normal Leadtek drivers are working fine.

I Hope somebody can help me

    Thanks

you winxp is home or professional?

if it is the professional, coul be lack of administrator privileges to install the board.

Also, I don´t know correctly how xp deals with drivers that don´t have microsoft digital signature (I still onw Win2Kpro, and it works perfectly well for me...)

I could install the drivers on W2K. And Uninstall as well, as they made my box pretty much a PAL only machine.

To manually install the drivers, it's not hard, you pretty much have to rename, drag and drop 4 files (in W2K).

The 'correct' way of updating the drivers is from Device manager, go to the capture card...properties/drivers/update drivers...and manually point to the drivers you downloaded. The INF file in among the DLL's.

  4. Thanks, but I know how to update, install & deinstall drivers. The problem is when I update the drivers (or install) I get an error message from windows: Cannot install this hardware, access is denied/

I'm also an administrator, so that's not the problem. I can install other drivers and application.

Did you try install the drivers when in safe mode?

It may be that due to some other software, the drivers are active at the moment, and so you receive the acess denied...

try to open task manager and browse through the processes tab, to see if the drivers are active at the moment of install.

  6. Yes, I have tried to install them in safe-mode.

I don't have other programs running. I can install other drivers for this device.

By the way when I try to install drivers, they can't be used by another program, because there are not installed

Try un-installing the drivers. Shutdown. Pull the card. Re-boot. Install the new drivers by right-clicking on the new driver INF and selecting install. Shutdown, install the card again, and reboot.

If this doesn't work, your going to have to rename the driver files and drop them into c:\%systemroot%\INF folder. The hardpart is renaming them to what your system is using for the card driver. Mine were like OEM11.inf-OEM14.inf however, that's completely machine dependent, don't use those or you will cripple yourself. And which ones are what is a machine dependent function. You can get these by trying to install the driver.

Sidenote, you do have XP certified drivers, right?

Sorry, O thought you´re trying to install over the existing drivers, since the Btwincap drivers won´t work stand alone (at least not for me). and thought it might come from the original drivers being in use.

Like I told you, I haven´t much experience with winxp, since I don´t use it (and haven´t intention to use it anytime soon.. )

anyway, takind as base win2k, the last option would be to go to regedt32, highlight HKEY_Local_Machine and check the permissions, also check the permissions for the HKEY_Local_Machine \hardware and its subfolders.

  9. Thanks for the replies, but your suggestions didn't work out. So I rolled back to the originial leadtek drivers, but know I've got really big problems. I can't capture anymore without massive framedrops. When I capture ay 720x576 in hufyuv I get even 100% framedrops.

I will try to find the cause of this problem

  10. Those btwincap drivers are EVIL....I would never recommend them to anyone. They turned a finely tuned and rock stable computer into a dust pile.

Those that have had success with them, my hat goes off to BUT for me it's not worth the pain to attempt these drivers again. Three attempts in the past resulted in me having to re-install Windows and apps each time.

  11. Yes, I'm afraid I have to agree. Now, I have to get my rock stable computer back. It's crashing all the time when I try to capture.

  12. The only advantage I can see of the btwincap (EVIL) over the stock ATi drivers is that the btwincap allows for captures greater then ???x240 with vfw drivers (ie: VirtualDub). Using wdm drivers there seems to be no difference (???).

There is also the iulab drivers that are also "modified". I'm tempted to try those drivers BUT I like my computers stability.

  13. That's why I tried to install the btwincap drivers. The iulab drivers doesn't have a stupid installer. So I think they are saver to use. But they didn't work with my card.

I've solved my capture problem. I don't think it was caused by the btwincap driver. Somehow the capture drive switched back to PIO mode. This is how to set it back:

Go to Device manager and expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers".
Select "Primary IDE Channel" and Uninstall it.
    It will require a reboot.
After booting back up, it will re-install the drivers.
When complete, you will need to reboot it again so it can select the UDMA mode

Avoid the btwincap drivers. The pain they cause you is not worth any benefits. They are EVIL !
