  1. When I play MPEG files in the Windows Media Player (WMP) 6.4 or 7.1 or in my Xing DVD player(Xing) they play fine but if I try to fastforward or click on the slidebar in any of these players, the players freeze. I can do that easily in the OLD WMP and I suspect it depends on the CODEC used. In WMP 6.4 I see a XING-icon whenever I am opening up an MPEG-movie. It seems like the Xing MPEG codec is faulty in some way. If anyone has more information on this or how to fix the problem, please let me know. How do I make Xing and WMP use another codec instead of the Xing MPEG codec ?

  2. My OS is Win98 SE, Xing DVD Player version is 2.0.3 and the WMP is version 7.01.00.3055. I also want to say that my DivX movies doesn't seem to be able to convert when using TMPGEnc either. It won't let me load them but gives me an error too. Could that also be caused by the Xing Mpeg codec ?

  3. for your divx problem, try removing the divx codec from your system and then install the divx 3.11 alpha codec. for xing mpeg, try removing that codec and reinstalling with (i guess they make the normal one that comes with os ???) microsoft

  4. That's my problem. I don't know how to remove the Xing MPEG codec. Where do I remove it ? It is used in WMP aswell for some reason. I checked under Control Panel/Multimedia/Devices tab (or whatever it is called in english) and I saw nothing there under video or audio codecs hinting that it is the XING codec. Then I thought I'd be able to 'NOT LOAD' this codec when MPEG-files are played but I didn't figure out how to since I can't tell which is the XING MPEG codec... Anyone know how to remove it ?
