I used Gspot to check my file info and it tells me that an AC3 codec is not installed, the info from Gspot is:
    ac3 (0X2000) Dolby labs inc
    Format tag 0x2000
    Format tag name Wave_Format_AC3
    Format Vendor "Dolby Labs"

GSpot was not able to find an audio codec which will decompress this format. Direct show was not able to render it either. You will most likely need to obtain an audio codec update to get sound from this media clip.

I have installed DivX 3.11 Alpha, DivX audio 402, DivX 502 bundle and the Nimo Codec pack.
Anyone know what codec this is needing?

  3. There is no AC3 codec, only decoders. You have to get a seperate program to encode AC3.

Thnx for the info BJ_M, now my film will only play in slow motion and still no AC3 codec installed even after installing the 1 in your post.
Before, the film played fine and I was going to encode for DVD, how do I get the AC3 codec you told me about uninstalled?

I have installed DivX 3.11 Alpha, DivX audio 402, DivX 502 bundle and the Nimo Codec pack.
That's a problem right there, you have mutually exclusive codecs there. I'd say remove all of them(then reboot). Install DivX 5.03, latest XviD mostly-stable release, AC3 audio codec, a DVD software player, and maybe FFDShow for flavor.

@ gazorgan: Where exactly do I get the AC3 audio Codec? Is it the same as mentioned by BJ_M?
I just done a system restore cause installing the codec that BJ_M told me about f*cked up playback on all my AVI's.
Also, what does the FFDShow? I have it downloaded but havent used it, what can it do for me?
I can watch my avis no problem now, as before without the AC3 codec but I want to encode 1 of them to burn to DVD, Gspot always seems to tell me there is no AC3 codec installed and when trying to encode the audio it bombs out.

FFDShow is a Direct Show filter. It takes the palce of codecs for thngs like DivX video. However, AC3 sound is proprietory ( that means a royalty ) is involved. Soooooo, where to get one. I said install a software DVD player, that's where I got mine from. You can install the Nimo Codec pack, custom, and ONLY install the AC3 audio codec.

As far as system restores go, read the EULA and readme before installing. Quite a few things you can't uninstall. Usually you can fix it without a re-install, but not always. Get used to it if you going to dabble in the latest codecs and video applications.

to uninstall (if you are not sure how to use the simple regserv32 /u command)

use this app which will show you every codec and such on your system and you can unreg at will
