  1. Technologically, DVD are suppose to be the BEST..sometimes I have a DVD disc that playing just like an MPEG /(VCD) quality.

I don't know much about DVDs, but I still don't see much difference in DVD's is better verus old VHS. (Maybe just the compact disc, Audio with THX, DigitalDobly, etc..). Anyways most of the time I got the movie is poorer than VHS, I don't know why but it does.

  2. Even on my relatively ancient TV, there is a pretty big difference between DVD and VHS...

Perhaps the cables connecting your DVD player to your TV aren't good?

actually some wires r made better than others.

wires made of gold or gold shielded wires r better because the gold repeals electromagnetic interference.

also, you may have a dad dvd.

i remember reading a company wanted to release a whole series on like 2 dvds. they put like 12 episides on a dvd but to do this they had to drop the bitrate really low.

  5. Wires do make a diffrence in picture quality like s-video is better then A/V and component is better then s-video. I think that some DVDs have bad quality over others like my two Cheech and Chong DVDs look like VHS quality and my newer movies look far better then those two. It may be because of a low budget to produce these less bought movies that quality is sacrificed.
