  1. I have a VOB that is 5.2 GB and I want to encode it to VCD using ffmpegX and the QT decode option (for sync). Am I going to have trouble since QT has some kind of 4 GB limit?

Should I re-rip as tracks? I haven't done this yet so all help and advice is appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. With 0SEx just create two VOBs, each containing only half of the chapters.

  3. Thanks, Major,

So I guess QT does have some kind of 4 GB limit/bug. I wonder if that is true of the new QT 6.1 (I haven't installed that yet.)

P.S. There's been a lot of talk about 42. Just like to say thanks to you for all the work/updates you make to ffmpegX. It's a great app!

When I've tried two VOBs, I find that Quicktime deals with the first one just fine, but won't play the second. The error has to do with an incorrect file duration.

To get around the Quicktime 2GB limitation, I use OSEx to rip elementary streams (rather than VOBs) in chunks smaller than 2GB.

This lets me convert the audio stream too if necessary...Quicktime also can't deal with AC3 audio streams so they need to be converted to MP2.

Then, I use FFMpegX to Mux the elementary streams.

Now, if I could just resolve my SVCD sync issue...
