  1. I need some serious assistance. I have been fighting this card for weeks and getting no where. I just got a new hard drive and loaded a fresh copy of XP PRO and cannot get the Capture drivers to be properly installed. I run the PC Check utility that comes with the card and everything checks out fine except the capture drivers. It tells me that the capture driver inf files are not installed. I have done everything on the forum on how to properly install the drivers at least 10 times and nothing helps. However I am able to capture fine using the MMC 7.7 but my problems comes in when I try capturing with other programs. They will capture fine but my captures have no sound. I do not know if this is because of the capture driver issue or that I have the sound going through the TAD IN/Out on the Capture Card and Video Card. I have tried capturingf with Sonic, Ulead Movie Facory and virtual dub. Theya ll have no sound. Is there a setting I am missing to tell those programs to get the sound from the TAD In. Remember everything works fine using the MMC from ATI. My issue are when capture with other programs there is no sound. Please help!!! Here is a Link I found on ATI website concerning this problem. http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4068.html

    1. I had xp pro , and it f***ed my installation and I reformatted , reinstalled etc etc . To get it to work I used 7.6 in the end , I have now installed the latest catalyst drivers and they work as well . But to my system 7.7 drove it mad .
2.try capturing sound in windows recorder or whatever on its own , to double check your leads or sound card aren`t at fault .
3.check TAD is ticked as the recording source AND that TAD isn`t muted in the sound sources screen

Good Luck and don`t be tempted to use the dark side

  3. My sound recorder works fine in Windows. I can capture sound with my videos as long as I use the ATI MMC. The TADIn is not muted and I can hear the sound through my speakers when I am Capturing with other programs. Do you suggest that I reload then reinstall everything or what? There has got to be an easier way.

I think MMC sound capture is a "what u hear" type of capture as in it captures all sound going through the sound card , vdub etc use the windows selected source and although you will hear it , it won`t record it , if it isn`t the selected source - just check if its selected as the recording source but if its recording wav`s in sound recorder , then it shouldn`t be that .

Overinstalling is a better description of it , it wont wipe out programs , it just replaces the windows files with new ones (in case they`re damaged).

Personally I`d overinstall windows and replace the 7.7s with 7.6 if you have it . Or just try 7.6 .
I only cap with vdub but before it will work properly I have to start the mmc TV component and then close it or vdub won`t work , I can`t be bothered to fix it . Sometimes it wont work for no reason and I just restart and it works , Ati bless them .

  5. Thanks for the help that was the problem. The ATI has an option to allow you to pick where your sound is coming from. The other programs I was using uses whatever Windows default sound recorder is set to. I changed it to TAd-in and bam it worked just liked magic. I finally created my first DVD with DVD Movie Factory2 and it looks Ok but a little grainey. I am now going to try some other programs to get the quality a little better. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  6. On Mpeg capture - attempts to replace MMC -

Avoid WinDVR. I purchased this program based on the results I got from the 'trial' ware. Unfortunately in real world tests, the picture was better, but suffered some extreme macroblock captures. I even went in the files and increased the H&V motion estimation. That helped a little, but didn't eliminate the problem. - CONCLUSION: I would avoid this one.

PowerVCR - Worse than MMC. 'Nuf said.

All-in-all, for ATI, MMC works about the best. I am a quality freak, so I went out and got the latest revision of the Hauppauge PVR-250. The quality is FAR superior to my AIW Radeon, in every respect. Nobody can make me go back to ATI now!
