  1. hi guys, ive been making and burning vcds for quite a while now using vcdeasy but this is the first time ive ever come across this error :

bad packet at packet #293938 (stream byte offset 683111912) -- remaining 156226252 bytes of stream will be ignored

What does this mean? AFter analysing the file, it displays the above message and cuts the last 150mb out of my mpeg file.

    why is this?

  2. hey, did you ever figure this out?

I'm now getting this error, and can't get around it.
The end of the movie is getting chopped off

Any ideas that you ran into?

  3. I always got this error when I would try to play certain file that I downloaded. I had to encode them through TMPGEnc again then the error didn't come back up and they burn without problems

  4. that's the problem, too, I can't even get it into tmpgenc

    Hey . . .

Just a quick question - have you tried opening this file up in VirtualDub, and scanning it for bad frames? Sounds like there might be at least one bad frame in your file somewhere.

This being the case, VD will "mask" the bad frames, and this should let you encode the file with no problems.

    Regards,

    B.

Try de-mulitplexing and then re-multiplexing your file as that usually fixes bad packet errors.

  7. bolta: When I try to put the file into VD, I get the following error:
"MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error".....
so that was giving me problems.

puertorican138: Can you suggest a program to de-multiplex and
re-multiplex? I tried Tmpgenc, and it wouldn't work.

    Thanks guys.

EDIT: for some reason, tmpgenc is now sort-of working.
    I'm doing a "Simple De-Multiplex" into 2 files, and then I guess I'll
try the "Simple Multiplex" next and see what happens.

  8. ok, this is what happened with the Simple Multiplex.....it gets most
of the way done....but then around 98%, I get an "Illegal Audiostream"
error. This is just about where I got the bad packets error with VCDEasy.

    Any ideas?

Try using bbMPEG as it's the best MPEG multi-plexer out there! :P

  11. thanks for the help puertorican138....I need more

I've never used bbMPEG before. I downloaded it, and ran
avi2mpeg to see if I could demultiplex and remultiplex.

(By the way, I have a 4-disc LOTR2, and the 4th disc says the file is
a DAT file instead of MPEG.)

I tried to load the file into avi2mpeg, and it wouldn't.
So....I converted the file to an mpeg with VCDEasy, and it created the mpeg. (although it says it's got back packets).

Then I tried to load that MPEG file into avi2mpeg, and it won't load either.
    Am I using bbMPEG incorrectly?

Make sure you de-multiplex your file to make it separate; an audio file and a video file. Then you run the two files through bbMPEG.

i had a simular problem. is the file svcd if so then you can get a vd thats moded to take svcd.

virtualdub-151-mpeg2-ac3 was the file i found to import svcd files in to vd, i just did a google search for it

    hope that helps?

  15. Still having trouble.....

I demultiplexed the file into audio and video.

Then, I go to the bbmpeg folder and I have two program files to choose
    from: avi2mpg2 or avi2mpg2_vfw

I run avi2mpg2, but it doesn't let me add either of the two files that I just created.

Am I adding the files correctly, or am I still not using bbmpeg right?

When you opened AVI2MPG2, did you click on Start Encoding first?

Try using avi2mpg2_vfw and see if that helps. :P

  19. still no go......

I was hitting "load" (at the top left) first, and then picking either the audio
or video file, and both were giving me problems. These two files were
the result from demultiplexing using tmpgenc (i think). I also tried to
hit "Add" first to add the files, but that gave me an error as well.

Thanks for the link, I'll try that soon.
