can you encode video that has an fps of 14? if so, do you use the same programs described in LeeBear's DiVX (AVI) to (S)VCD or something different?

    The audio compressions says:
    Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec

You can, but 14fps is just not a suitable source for VCD or SVCD. The encoder is going to duplicate every frame so the movement isn't going to look very natural. You may want to try using TMPGenc's 14.985 (internally 29.97fps) option under the framerate tab. If its locked then click Load at the bottom right and load the unlock.mcf tempalte.

This fps setting, as best as I can tell, will encode your video as is and instruct the dvd player to duplicate each frame. This should give you better quality and possible better looking movement but it won't comply with the VCD or SVCD standard so it might not play.

Don't expect much in any case... crap in=crap out.

you might want to give encoding a try.... I've done a few movies from 12fps & 14 fps to PAL (25fps, I'm in UK) and they look a lot better on my TV than they do on the PC. (don't know why, but the pixellation probs don't stand out so much and the scene changes appear smoother than on the PC). Why not give it a go and judge for yourself. It will only cost u a couple of CDs (£1).........

To ZippyP...thanks for the tip, however, I've printed that guide already...it only refers to the standard fps choices.

To narked...what program did you use that would allow you to encode from 14 fps...was there a special thing you had to do to keep the audio in sync?

Nothing special, just stripped sound out of avi as uncompressed wave (I'm in UK so set conversion to 44100hz for PAL format) with virtualdub. Loaded wave back into avi (audio - WAVE audio), and saved as new avi with uncompressed wave interleaved (u can frameserve to miss this step). Then load this to TMPG.

Have had several TMD movies that I thought were unwatchable on PC turn out OK on TV. Try it....
