  1. I am very new at making VCD's. Although I've made one that works great. I tried to do a second and I'm having all kinds of trouble. for two weeks I've been reading all of vcd help's pages and still problems.

I first downloaded a movie. and a whole lot of other stuff.

    Nimo combo pack
    divx 3.11
    divx 4
    divx 5
    Virtual Dub
    Vcd Easy
    Nero Burning Express (I bought)
    Nero Burning Rom
    Cool Edit 2000
    Xvid
    Canopus DV File Convertor
    Aspi Check
    TMPGEnc Plus
    I also have Easy Creator 5.0 Platinum\

I tried to play movie in Windows Media Player 9, didn't work, downloaded Nimo Codec Pack and plays distorted. I can download them, I can play them on my computer but using Video Lan. AAAAHHHHH! Everytime I try to use one of the guides that are posted on VCDhelp something goes wrong when I click on the help or "Click here if...." unsupported or invalid file etc. I follow those directions, still problems. Can someone please help me I'm very agrivated. Do I really need all those codecs etc. that I've downloaded. If you can help and explain it to me as if I were a child it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  2. Okay maybe I didn't explain myself very well, Right now I can't convert my Xvid (avi) file to .wav it says something like "Unsupported format" and that's just the beginning. I try this with Virtudub, I've try this with cool edit 2000 neither work.

  3. riggs,

It sounds like a codec issue....Nimo codec pack is known to cause them. I guess my advise would be to uninstall the Nimo pack and intstall just the DivX and Xvid codecs.....and of course have an mp3 decoder.

Those links have the DivX and Xvid codecs....you really dont need any other Video codecs. If you do King John just put out a guide on codecs and covers all of them.

    Thanks Don2050,

I just want to echo your thoughts about the Nimo pack. I have installed and uninstalled them twice.

I have had some weird problems with videos not being able to be played on my PC as well as mine and other DVD players.

I removed the Nimbo codecs, re-encode and the problems have gone away.

U may have probs with codec packs, I had endless probs with Nimo build 8 and didnt get sorted until I went back to build 7 (depends on operating system I suppose). Try King Johns guide:

I had to reformat and re-install W2K to clean up codec problems (WMP9 is a one way trip, you can never remove it!). Nimo is almost as bad, if you install everyhting, your screwed...and it tells you that! DivX5 and Xvid, with assorted audio codecs works for me. (and a little FFDShow for flavor)
