  1. Hi guys.

    Need a bit of help,

Long story short, Lots of dv tapes needed to get onto dvd, now Im using studio 8.3 to capture my video, and CCE to encode.
Studio 8 captures's with a DV codec but I cannot change the codec I use to capture, the box is just greyed out and at the bottom says that its data rate is 3475 kbps, surley this should be higher if i'm encoding at an avarage of 4000 kbps ???

I have read that main concepts DV codec is the best as its data rate is higher ??? but annoying as it is I cannot choose to capture with this codec,

Other wise is there another alternative to very high quality capture ??

    good board, software ?????????

What is the max datarate of DV ????

    please help,

    thanks in advance

    wez

DV, is 99% of the time, DV25.

25, as in 25MEGAbits/second CBR, but this is for the video information only. Once you add in audio, subcode, etc., you end up with a total stream of about 36Mb/s.

DV25's compression bitrate, unlike MPEG, MJPEG, DivX, is NOT adjustable. It's 25Mb/s and that's it, AFAIK.
