  1. Hi,

I was wandering if theres some sort of patch or add on to allow tmpgenc to open dv avi files. I caqpture with adobe premiere, but if i save it as a normal windows avi file there is quite a quality difference betwwen that and the dv avi. Will it make a difference if I go straight from dv to mpeg?

    Thanks.

  2. If you are capturing type 2 DV files, you need to install a DV codec. For example the Panasonic DV codec in the tools section.

If you are using type 1 DV files, you need to change certain settings in TMPGEnc. I manage to get TMPGenc to recognize type 1 files. I believe that it is by setting the priority setting in TMPGEnc for directshow at a higher setting, for example, +4, you increase the chances of compatibility with type 1 DV files. The exact instructions to do this are the following:

    In TMPGEnc, select:
Option >Environmental setting > VFAPI plug-in > Right click the "DirectShow Multi Media File Reader" > select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4.
