  1. I have a dvd player that can play vcd's but doesn't accept copies. (those blue and green ones)
Now i want to know if there is a way to make an ORIGINAL CD.
What equipment or cd's are needed to make those factory original cd's????

hello orson. first off, vcd's arent factory original. they are regular cd-r media. and the reason your dvd player isnt playing the copies is probley because the VCD is being copied onto a non compatible cd-r disc. you can check the compatiblity to your dvd player at the DVD Players section on this web site.

hope thats whats wrong. if it is, just find a cd-r that is the same color as the VCD your trying to copie. like if its black or silver.

  5. You say your DVD player can play VCDs, but won't accept copied ones? Try this. Use NERO to make the VCD. I had a problem back when I got my DVD player where Adaptec wouldn't burn the VCDs properly. If that doesn't work, try using 74 minute CDs, and 80 minute CDs to see which one the DVD player can work with.

  6. he means VCDSilvers...he wants to make VCD silvers. and Justice, yes there are VCDs that are factory made both in legal(studio)/illegal (bootleg) sources. anyways...dont know where , but if u can find Silver plated CD-Rs, u can make VCDSilvers...but thats not your problem. some players cant reac VCDs from CDRs, they must be on CDRWs. for ex. my friends Panasonic couldnt read CDRs but when i tried CDRWs on it, it worked like a charm, try that.

  7. Been there, done that...
    doesn't work!
it doesn't play anything but original.
i tried it a whole lot of times with audio cd's too, no luck at all.

just to let you know, it's a whole home theatre system, with radio tuner, casset, 5dvd/cd changer etc.. from panasonic.
and in the manual there's something about playing only discs with the marks: dvd, compact disc (digital audio), compact disc (digital video). and also it says that it can't play discs with the marks cd-r, cd-rw etc...

it did ONCE play an audio cd i made with a cd-rw from smart and friendly, but after that it NEVER played it again.
(oh..and when i played it, the sound was BAD and sometimes it stopped playing, so i had to pause and play and pause and play....you get the picture.

    - New question..
how do the corporations like sony, MS, etc...
    make their original cd's

  8. Unfortunately for you, originals are pressed, not burnt. So, if you have a few thousand to spare you can go out and buy a CD duplication plant where a master is 'cut' and then the copies are pressed. A slightly expensive way to do things. Sorry but that's the way it goes.

You may be able to supply a duplicating plant a master and have them do a single master for you but I would bet that would be a seiously expensive proposition.

  9. i dunno if this will work or not, but you can buy silver bottomed blank cd's off ebay. the guy who sells them claims they are the best thing since pussy. saying that the stuff you buy at the stores are 'garbage'. it might be worth a shot. i havent tried them tho.

    good luck fock a duck

    I've got a Yamaha DVD-S700, which is a Panasonic A350 clone.
I can play Kodak, TDK & Imation 74min CD-RW disks on it without any problems, I've given up trying to play CD-R's.
    Hope this helps.

  11. Buying CD factory ))) funny idea

You can make original VCDs - about 400 $ one if you want one piece of each Very expensive fun, of course

Cheapest idea - throw your stupid DVD player out of window and buy something that CAN play CDR easy

  12. Let's stop some rumours right here.

As some have mentioned, professionally produced VCDs are pressed CDs. They are not CD-R. No DVD player should have problems reading this type of media (if it did, it wouldn't be able to read audio CDs either).

Silver coloured CD-R media ARE NOT the same as pressed media. They are no better in their optical properties than any other type of CD-R. Thus, if your DVD player wasn't designed to read CD-R media, you will have the same chance of silver ones working as any other.

The idea that silver CD-R media are better is a rumour -- and possible a marketing ploy to fool the unwary.

For the same reason, terms like "true gold" and "true silver" are totally meaningless. All CD-R media use gold or silver as the reflective layer. This will not make these media work better in a DVD player not designed to read CD-R.

  13. Acording to sony, there are three generations of DVD players:
The first played ONLY original pressed CDs (VCD, DVD, AUDIO)

The second could read both CD-r and CD-RW

and the thired, it's the latest, with all the newstuff (playes mp3...)

You said, that acording to the DVD compability section, your dvd isn't compailable, well it means it belongs to generation 1 - SORRY!

  14. Orson, I had the same problem as you. I guess mine was in the generation 1 also. I did some searching and found that some dvd players(sony in my case) play a certain type of cd-r media. It was some cheap kind from circuit city that said "high reflectivity" on it. They worked. My guess is that the "reflectivity" tricked the player. Although I am an idiot, so who knows!
