  1. Hi fellow forumers,

I have a large AVI file on my PC which I wish to make into VCD format.

Am I right that for VCD playback, I need to convert the AVI into MPEG format? However, after conversion, the MPEG file is larger than a single CD's capacity of 650 or 700 MB.

Hence, how can I make split the file to fit 2 VCDs - ie, make a single AVI into VCD 1 and VCD 2?

Thanks very much for your input.

2 ways to get about this:
    • 1) Split the AVI in chunks that will encode to an MPEG less than 800 MB (~78 min chunks for a VCD) Use VirtualDub for this.
      2) Encode the whole AVI,then split the MPEG in suitable chunks. Use
    TMPGEnc for this.

There are a lot of guides to read on the subject.
