  1. I can rip the DVD's fine using Smart Ripper, then I strip the stuff I don't want using IFOEdit (not sure if I could just do this with smart ripper's stream ripping). From there I reencode the movie using 352x480 resolution with a frame rate designed to fit both movies.... bitrate about 2100 or so.... keeping 5.1 audio. The files are remuxed and VTS sectors corrected.

What I have is 2 movies that will fit on a DVD and they both have the VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO files.

I'm guessing I'll need to use authoring software to make a new menu structure to choose between the two movies.

Will I end up needing the VTS_01_0.IFO files and generate a new VIDEO_TS.IFO in the authoring phase? Not really sure where to go from here.

There was a post somewhere about this but the page people referred to was dead.... http://www.robshot.com/

    Any tips or ideas?

To put two or movies on a DVD-R you need to author them. The authorware will create the ifo files for you. You do need to demux the movies into there elementary streams,m2v and ac3. Try Spruceup it's on this website and is free to try in demo mode for two disks.

  3. OK Thanks. I was figuring that was next. Got to go back to the re-encoding. My 2252 kbps at 320 x 480 looks like crap.

Any tips on how "easily" calculate the kbps to fit 2 movies and a menu? I was figuring a full length DVD then divided my result from powerbit calculator in half.

My mistake was assuming dropping the resolution to 320 x 480 would also decrease the file size... it did. Result was a 1.7 gig file but image is crappy (didn't try on TV though). I suppose I would have been closer to target with a 720 x 480 gig file.

Anyone know of any guides on doing this. From the number of views it seems to be a popular topic.

    Thanks!
