    I need a DVD/VHS Player

It needs to play VCD/MP3's and possibly MPEG.

I need a scart socket for my cable box and S-Video for my Camcorder.

    Any suggetions?

I was thinking of the Sony SLV-D900

  3. Hi John,

I'm not trying to be unhelpful here, but my advice would generally be to go for a separate DVD/VCD player and a VHS/VCR.

My reason for this is that if you get a 'combo' and one part goes wrong, you're stuck with a machine that only 'half works' (especially once it's past its warranty etc..).

A lot of DVD/VCD players do wear out it seems after a few years (or less if you're unlucky), and so do VCR's.

I really would not want to be stuck with a working VCR that's attached to a broken DVD player, or vice-versa.

That's just my humble opinion though - you may have very good reasons for going down the 'combo' route.

    cheers,

    mcdruid.

    thanx for the reply

The main reason is less cables, I have kids so the less the cables the better. Also I will be runnung cables through the wall so once again the less cables the better. Space is also a issue.

    Easier to record personal DVD's.

I have decided to go for the JVC HR-XV1

I know that there is no remote hack for this DVD Player but I can get a mod chip from techtronics. They sell the Drive with the mod chip for £300 or I can get the drive for £250 from the local electric store

Has anyone delt with techtronics before??
Just before I go blow ALL my money.

    Once again thanx......
