  1. I convert a movie with tMpeg and in the resulting mpg file , at a certain point the video goes away but the audio stays, why does that happen?
    This dosn't happen in the original AVI file.

    Your avi probably has some corrupt frames.
    Scan it with Virtual Dub

    open up your movie with Virtual Dub,choose
    Video<scan video stream for errors

  5. When your video has been scanned with vdub, it'll tell you at the bottom of the screen how many frames were bad. The more frames, the larger a "chunk" of movie will be gone. Vdub will have removed those bad frames, but you'll need to re-save the .avi file again. I just went through this yesterday, so it's fresh in my head!

    Of course, since the video is now smaller, my audio was also off. I went back to my original download and separated the audio has a .wav file. When I went into tmpgenc, I used the new .avi file and the .wav file to create my final .mpg file. You'll need to go into the advanced tab of the audio setting and check the box which says "do not fix conversion..".

    Did you scan it yet ?, 1 bad fram can cause the rest of the movie to be bad.
