I'm kinda new to all these unix commands and the other day when I tried to play a movie with mplayer I got this output:
AltiVec found
Reading config file /usr/local/etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf: No such file or directory
Reading config file /Users/mikkelgade/.mplayer/config
Reading /Users/mikkelgade/.mplayer/codecs.conf: can't open '/Users/mikkelgade/.mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
Reading /usr/local/etc/mplayer/codecs.conf: can't open '/usr/local/etc/mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
Using built-in default codecs.conf
font: can't open file: /Users/mikkelgade/.mplayer/font/font.desc
font: can't open file: /usr/local/share/mplayer/font/font.desc
Using usleep() timing
Can't open input config file /Users/mikkelgade/.mplayer/input.conf : No such file or directory
Can't open input config file /usr/local/etc/mplayer/input.conf : No such file or directory
Falling back on default (hardcoded) input config
...now the movie started playing, but I was just wondering if there's any way to solve these issues? I have placed mplayer under the /Library/Application Support/ folder...is that right?

Mplayer has a very nice GUI, if all you want to do is play movies. its at their site.
*nix guys are funny...what you are seeing are *messages* moreso than *errors*
in fact one of the functions of mplayer actually prints core dumpedafter successfully completing..just cus the coders have a very *nixy sense of humor.
mplayer looks for certain things in default locations to add features and functionality to its core; those messages simply are there to inform you that things are not in their default locations...thats all.
If its gonna error out, it will just stop
Check out the mplayer gui. When I actually want to play movies on my mac that nothing else will, its what I use

Thanx KaiCherry,
So you are saying that these messages are nothing to worry about, the app. is just informing me that some "elements" that were supposed to be at a specific locations is missing?
Is it trying to find them elsewhere when it dos not find them in the default location?
How can I make sure it finds these features...or are these features not necessary?
