  1. I downloaded this AVI and when I watch it, the video freezes in one point but sound will continue. If I want to scroll forward the freezed image will still be there and I have to restart WMP.

I ran vdub following KingJohns guide to bad frames, but vdub didnt detect any. How can I fix the freezing?

  2. Update: I also installed DivX Antifreeze and Rebuilded index with DivX Fix and still the freezing in the same part. BTW, if you scroll past that part before WMP/WinDVD plays it, it will continue to play normally.

Try to find out what kind of AVI file it is (i.e. DivX 3, DivX 5.02 or XVID).

Then try another codec for this format. I know there is a bunch of codecs for XVID that react differently too bad frames. If you don't have one that lets you know you have a bad frame VDub will not understand it.

Ok, so you say there are no bad frames, then try this

Load into Vdub, if there is a VBR warning then switch to Vdub MP3

    video > direct stream copy
    audio > direct stream copy
    save avi (Movie2.avi)

See if the second one is ok ?

I overlooked something above, are you getting these freezes when you use fast forward ?. If you are that is normal with movies which have keyframe spaced apart, you have to wait until the system catches up

  10. Nope, I get the freezes when Im playing the movie normally in WMP and WinDVD. Like I said before when I play them in Vdub it will not freeze there.

I have had bad frames that Vdub did not detect. If you know where they are then just cut them out yourself!
