Well, after making many expensive frisbees. (messed up dvd discs) I decided to try this cheap 40 dollar program. Probably a little cheaper for standard edition. It's called Neo DVD. Sister in law got it when she bought a capture device. I figured the thing would work for crap, but much to my surprise, worked pretty stinkin well. Here's the scoop.
Simple program.
You can capture from camcorder, tv, vhs, tv out and save to hard disk or i believe you can directly write it to a blank media.
You can create a DVD or VCD Disc. I havent seen the S-VCD option though. Maybe that comes with the deluxe edition.
YOu can make a copy of your dvd or vcd disc, or dvd or vcd file.
Now, I've tried a billion and a half methods to burn dvd's. Nothing worked for me for some odd reason. So i gave this a shot. I told it to make a dvd, slected the DIVX AVI file, gave it a crappy menu (since the menu capability is kinda trash in the standard version) and told it to go. This program re-encoded my file burned it and closed the disc in about 2 hours. This was a 2 hour movie by itself. That was a huge surprise Seeing as how it would take anywhere from 3-7 hours with say TMPGENC.
One quick thing, when making a dvd, you pretty much always have to select MEDIUM quality or itll be over 5 gigs. But.......... Even at medium quality, THE DVD LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE ORIGINAL FILE. I recommend this program to all newbies or people who just don't feel like going through the hours and hours of stripping, decoding, re-encoding, burning blah blah blah. Have fun for those who use it. One other the quick, you can't really do anything with the video, just tell it NTSC and medium, great or low quality and let it do its magic. WHich sucks, but like i said, looks like the original file on my computer.
