How is this possible?

I've been trying to convert this .mov file to .mpg or .avi. I got a chance to use Quicktime Pro, and I exported the .mov as an uncompressed .avi because it didn't have any good choice of codecs to use. The filesize is 9.89GB (heh). I can't play it in WMP, but when I try to encode it to mpg using tmpgenc, it works but during preview and in playback, the quality is much worse and horribly blocky. The Quicktime movie's quality is great and I'd like to keep it that way.

Make sure the resolution is the same between the mov and the avi. Most likely the resolution is different between the two, or you are displaying them differently.
