I bought a Pioneer A04 in April of 2002. The drive has stopped recognizing DVD's as of today. Doesn't recognize a one, no matter brand, no matter blank or burned or official. I looked through the manual but I can't find any useful information on Customer Support. Anyone got a phone number I can call?
Thanks in advance,
Al

Already took the drive out, and even tried it in my other computer that already has a working Sony Dru500a. The Pioneer doesn't read DVD's anymore no matter where I attempt to use it. Any phone numbers I can call for an RMA or some sort of customer service?
Thanks

Hi
Ive Got the same problem, my dvd-104 can read n burn cds but nothing with a dvd.But theres one way i can get it to work, one day i must of bumbed and it worked for a while. Then when i put my dvd-rom backin i must of bumbed it again nothing worked. So i tried putting the case on the side like a playstation and it would read just like normal but you put it back upways and nothing.Hope this helps.Ive sent my dvd writer back to pioneer australia to get it fixed with no warranty hope its cheap. -
I've have Pioneer A03 that won't read DVD or CD no matter what they are. It will burn but won't read. Funny tho, when I burn with Nero and use the Verify option Nero is able to verify the files. Once the disc is ejected and put back in no read. Just blinks it's yellow light.
I emailed pioneer about it and they didn't respond.
It's one month past its warranty. I am really bent out of shape about it. -
I had this exact problem with my Pioneer. I did everything to get it to work - even reimaged my machine. I had it less then a year. To make a long story short, a $2.00 CD/DVD cleaner did the trick and it's been working fine ever since. See if that works.....

its still under warrenty .. call your dealer first ..
or find the nearest service center here http://www.vicinity.com/pioneerservice/startprx.hm -
Check the service and support link on Pioneer's website. Many companies leave out support info in the manuals, so you have to go to the website for current info (maybe they want people to look at the FAQs before calling or something).

I had the same problem....
You should try to reinstall the drive...
go to setting>control panel>system
click on device manager tab
click on the +cdrom and remove the dvd drive.. now restart the computer and the computer should regconize your drive and install it from there.....
taking the drive out and plug it back in is not going to help,,since your drivers
are already on the system....... u must first remove everything associated with the piooner driver and reinstall it back..
don't take out your drive while remove the device....hope this help,, I have fixed around 20 drives this way even dvdr,,, if this method doesn't works,,then u should try to clean it like szelik (it might be the laser defect that it cannot read the disc)
