I've currently got an .avi whose info (from VirtualDub) tells me is MS MPEG4 3688 V3. TMPGEnc tells me that the video file is not supported. How do convert this so that I can burn this file onto a VCD? I have Nimo Codec Pack installed (5.0 Build 8 ).

If you get an error message when opening like file unsupported or can not open or is not supported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window
or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Try first to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video. If that does not help be sure that you have installed DivX or XviD or MPG2 or DV Codecs and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack.Hello. -
Hey omniscient,
I may have an answer. I had to download and install an mpg4 fix when I first encountered this codec. M$ eliminated a certain version from their OS's and this one that I installed was somehow recovered and shared around. Now I can encode with this particular codec as well as 'read' files encoded with it.
I'd be glad to email it to you. It merely adds to your existing list of codecs and shouldn't hurt your system any. the zip file has readme files to clarify exactly what's happening. (zip is 136k)
Codecs are:
mpeg4 v.1
mpeg4 v.2
mpeg4 v.3
