    Hey guys,

I am recording a movie straight to MPEG-2 format through my ATI Radeon video in card. Someone told me to download a Bitrate Calculator, so i did.

I downloaded the "AVI/(X)(S)VCD Bitrate Calculator" from the tools section, can someone give me a few lessons how to use this thing so i dont have to encode my videos? 8)

thx for all your help guys

I just realized, that when I record in MPEG-2, my audio goes out of sync. can anyone tell me why this might be happening? I can record in mpeg-1 just fine.

  3. Sorry for answering a question with a question, but what do you use to capture to MPEG2 from a normal video-in graphics card ?

I would be really interested in that piece of news .

I don't know what you mean with ' using a bitrate calculator so that you do not have to encode the video ' .

As I have some knowledge about calculators, or better, about what they do, I could probably help you, but it would be nice if you could be a bit more specific as to what effect you want to use it (other than to get your desired filsesize), and what exactly you do not understand in it's usage .

    Cheers ,

    Jan .

    Hey,

I am just using my ATI Radeon 64MEG DDR video card to capture. It has an ATI Multimedia center that allows me record directly into MPEG-2.

I wanted to do this, to make an SVCD, because I cannot get any encoding to work right. The audio goes out of sync no matter what i do. Even converting the mpeg-1 to an avi file, the audio goes out of sync.

So i thought, maybe if i could just record straight to MPEG-2 i could just burn it straight to a SVCD. However, when i am recording now, it goes out of sync for some reason.

  5. Try shutting everything what runs in the background of your computer
off (programms like norton virus ect.)
Change your destop pic to blank.

    ok i just tried that
still has an audio delay though, it makes all the audio go out of sync.

I would like to record in mpeg-1 and convert it to mpeg-2 using TMPEG, but the audio always goes out of sync with that aswell.. even when i encode the audio and video from seperate files (im trying to make an SVCD)

Don't waste your time with mpeg 2. Use Virtual Dub. Mpeg 2 is difficult to edit. Unless you have some high powered equipment, results are not too good. I too have an ATI 64 meg DDR VIVO and it does a good job for me, but I avoid mpeg 2 for better quality and flexibility.

Well I dont really have all that much choice!

When i record in MPEG-1, i cant encode it to MPEG-2 because i always get audio sync problems (no matter what i do). It starts out IN SYNC for the first 10 minutes, then gradually moves out of sync.

I cant record in AVI because there is a file restriction of 4 gig, and im sure that i would get the sync problems anyways when i encoded it to mpeg-2 for SVCD format.

can you help me fix ANY of these????
