No problems converting AVI to MPG using Virtual dub before, until I reinstalled my os. Now vitrual dub kicks up the following error

    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/smudge249/error1.JPG

    I have installed divx 3.11 / 4 /5 and Nimo.

One thing, when I installed the new winamp all my films play in this, which is fine for quality but could this be causing any problems?

Also when I load a film into Virtual Dub and check file information the Fraunhofer Codec does not show up.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Its telling you that DX50 (DivX 5) is missing, you need to re-install it

Here are some more you can test your system with

  3. Ok folks,

I have installed and re-installed DivX 5.0.3 multiple times and I still get the same error as above in virtualdub. I have checked GSpot and it says that I do not have the codec installed. What's going on here? Anyone else having this problem? This should be a no brainer. Start the installer, agree to the legal mumbo jumbo, and click install. Once done you get a message saying installation is successful and your done. But for some reason it's still not happening. On Win 2K Pro with DivX 3.11, 4, 5, 31vx and openDivX installed (the last two out of desperation and no luck).[/list]

  4. Just tried opening the decoder configuration program and all i get is a "config.exe generated errors, this program with shoutdown" error. Is this related to why my system is not recognizing the installed codec?

I see from your list you have Divx 4, that will be overwritten by Divx 5, DivX 3.11 alpha is ok, but not 4.

Uninstall divx5, and delete any folder it made, run a utility like Norton to clear up after it, then install it again. If you load vdub and select compression, you should see the divx 5 in its list, if you don't then the installation has failed, try divx 5.02 or 5.01 ? www.divx.com

now that you've done all that it still wont work because dv50 is not the same thing as divx 5.0. dx50 is an xvid codec. search the forums here for dx50 and you will see many posts about it and where to get the codec
