I have 2 AVI films that were both 24.000 FPS, I decided to encode them using a PAL template in TMPGenc but changing the frame rate to 24fps instead of it being 25 fps. The resulting Mpeg2's play back fine in media player 7 & 9 but when I try to Author them using U lead DVD movie factory I get this error just as Ive clicked on Create DVD button:-
****All or part of the video data in the Mpeg file is not compatible with this program****
Can any1 help with this please......??
Thanks in advance

Yep, put the frame rate back to 25 and re-encode the video.
-
you mean in the avi encoding using TMPgenc, instead of setting the framerate to 24 leave it on 25 fps?? would this not affect playback and loss of audio sync after a duraton of a time, TMPGenc would have to pad it out by 1 fps........you sure about this dude??
-
If you're trying to make a PAL DVD then yes, the frame rate is 25 FPS.
-
yes I am trying to make it into whatever is the right format for 24.000fps as that what the AVi has been endoded @

Why don't you try the North American standard for film - NTSC 24 fps? That way, assuming you live in North America, your DVD frame size will will be correct and will also play in your player.
-
Remember to encode with 3:2 pulldown when playback or else it wont be dvd compatible. If you use the tmpgenc wizard you change to video mode under step 2 and it will be 24fps with 3:2 pulldown.
www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencdvd
If you configure tmpgenc yourself, chang then under settings->video->encode mode to 3:2 pulldown when playback. -
ok I encoded my movie using the NTSC ttemplate for TMPGenc and changed the framerate to 24fps and made sure the 3:2 pulldown when playback was selected and now I get this messege when I put it into Ulead DVD moviefactory :-
***blahblah.mpeg is not a compliant MPEG file, please select a DVD/VCD/SVCD compliant MPEG file.****
maybe I need to get the framerate of the AVI to NTSC or PAL standard before I enode it to an MPEG??? 24.000 FPS is an oddball size -
Can someone who knows what they are talking about please help me out here?? Ive had these films for long time and never been able to do anything with them
-
section2: are you using movie factory 2? Cause it works fine for me but I dont think it work with movie factory 1.
-
THen you must upgrade or use another tool like spruceup, ifoedit or something.

OK, need to get something clear about the video/film movie choice in TMPGEnc. In this thread Baldrick says it should be changed to VIDEO, then referring to his guide, which in turn says to change it to FILM if you're converting 24fps.
What is it when converting 24 fps -> DVD? Film with 3:2 pulldown and no other changes (under other settings you still have 23.976 -> 29.97 as setting, which is confusing) or is it Video with 3:2 pulldown?Sweet. -
Well I still have a total of :-
4 films that are 24.000 fps
1 film that is 12.500 fps
1 film that is 24.032fps
They are all in AVi format and I am unable to make DVD from them as it needs to be either PAL(25 fps) or NTSC (29.97). If it is niether of these framerates the MPEG2 will not be accepted by Ulead DVD. If I encode to 23.967 or 25 fps then the audio sync in the encoded Mpeg2 will be out of time. How can i do this correctly, does somebody on here have a way of doing this successfully???
Thanks -
Well, I did exactly as I posted before. Used the TMPGEnc 23.976 fps Film template with 3:2 pulldown. Worked like a charm. No out of sync or nothing.
Sweet.
