  1. Hi,

I am trying to make a VCD after a long time of not making VCD's (and i am a little rusty)......

I split a 23.976 fps (i think thats the right fps) Divx into 2 mpegs using virtuadub and tmpgenc making sure that i match the template to the fps, and i get a gorgeous couple of mpegs that are video quality and smooth with no jitters.....

Then i author them to a vcd with menus and stuff, using Ulead DVD workshop...

However when i play the vcd (or even the disc image mpg) it has become all stuttery....

I think that this is because in DVD workshop i only have two output options of NTSC or PAL television formats, and of course these are either 25.000 fps or 29.something fps.....not the original 23.976

    My question is.....

How do i get around this if this is whats causing it.......and are there any other good authoring tools out there that are as easy to use as Ulead DVD workshop.......????????

  2. i know what it is like to not have people reply to your posts...i almost never get any replys or i do and they are too late....well....what you described sounded like a.) you had cheap cd's b.) you burned it on to a re-writable disc and your dvd player didnt read it to its fullest (not uncomman) c.) your dvd player may not like the menus you have put in (also not uncomman) d.) the resolution of the mpeg may be wrong....the dvd player may not like that 23.9 some thing frames per second (mine dvd player dont like 23fps either) e.) i dont have a clue......tweak some settings in the program....personnaly i hate apps that are too fancy such as the 1 you are using but i do admit you can make some good menus and it is very easy to use....i prefer to make mine with vcd easy and they come out perfect every time....

  3. Thanks for your reply....

I'll give VCD easy a go.....

I think it is something to do with the frame rate on DVD workshop, because it only does PAL or NTSC, and 23.9something is NTSC Film format....

    Thanks...
    Ade
