    I posted it here:

Like I said in that original post, it certainly turned out lower quality, but it looked considerably better on my standalone and TV (29" Sony 4:3) than it did on my PC and not as far away from the original as I originally expected.

  8. I've been having problems getting RecordNow Max 4.5 to burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. It'll burn the files but not the files and the folders. My woeful tail is described on pages 9 & 10 in this forum.

I found a note from someone on another site who was having the same problem. The note reads...

"I have taken the folders that wouldn't burn with RecordNow Max and ran ifoedit running the "get VTS Sector" part again. Now everything burns fine and is playable by my standalone player."

I downloaded ifoedit and have no idea how to run"get vts sector" on the folders. Does anyone have ifoedit and understand what this guy did to the folders? I'd sure appreciate a walk through so I can get this "burning" issue resolved.

    Many thanks...

  9. I see that no 1 has responded to my post as yet! Any way all this hype about dvd2one is all good, but like I said u can do the same thing in TMPG if u follow my steps outlined in earlier posting. That simple, same amount of dvd quality in 45 min to 2 hours, including burning.

What the hell are you talking about? How is it even possible to do the same thing in TMPG by following your so called "steps"? Please be more detail, I'm very curious.

  11. Until I get this RNM burning issue resolved, I won't be able to compare apples to oranges on my standalone DVD player. However, I do believe DVD2ONE will beat the pants off of VCD's which is what I was authoring before. For me, the switch will most likely be a "why wouldn't I".

Click in audio portion and select "create audio sync". Assign the appropriate ac3 files to each and click create audio.

Save and compile. You will end up with 1 long DVD movie that has all three episodes combines. Encode whichever way you want to decrease size and burn.
Thanks for the guide Mikef07, but I also did mention that I don't have DVD Maestro and haven't any idea where one would pick it up, since it's out of print. The process seems easy enough though, now, what do I do about the subtitles?

  14. Life is good!!!!! Ripping with Decrypter, Transconding with DVD2ONE, burning with RNM DX all at once, all I have to say is if you want to wait around 8,9,10 + hrs go right ahead in the mean time i'll do 10 times the amount with decent quality!!!

  15. [quote="DVC2"]For those that are still having having difficulties heres a short run through of the easiest way to do things.

Insert your dvd in your dvd-rom
    start smartripper
    select filemode
select the big button named backup
select a folder to save to (its important that the folder actually exist or smartripper will say its done in 2 sec and do nothing)
Smartripper finishes in 15-20 minuttes and you now have the entire dvd decrypted on harddrive (no you cannot use dvd2one directly from the encrypted dvd - you first have to decrypt and rip to harddrive)
start dvd2one - point to the video_ts folder of your ripped backup
select a folder where dvd2one saves the resulting files. (preferable on a secondary harddrive to speed up the writing)
select the videostream (thats the one with the longest playingtime - duh)
select the audiostreams which is identified in dvd2one with language and format
select the subtitle which is identified in dvd2one with language
hit start and in 15-20 minuttes your done

Now how difficult can it be

Ok, now just another Question for you ( from me a brain dead numbskull)
When you say just pick file mode then back up, are you saying we have to check every box in file mode? Because other wise even if you click on the File button, it still only has the VOB's checked to rip? ( SO what extra things do we have to rip?)
i am ripping my dvd again at the moment, but i want to know if i have to check all the boxes and ripp again?
Thanks, a little more specific than you last post ( about this area) would be great.

  17. mikef,

A 120" projector is not a TV? Come on. That is an asinine statement.
Gee, you are in sad shape. A projector is not a TV. A TV is not a projector. A TV displays an image on a fixed screen. A projector displays it on a wall or what have you, and the image isn't fixed.

What does TV do? It displays a picture.
If that's your definition of a TV, I have some swamp land to sell you. hehe

A projector gives you 1024x768 resolution. Far sharper than a TV. Name something a TV can do that my projector cant.
Actually, it depends on the projector. But I've found that my professionally calibrated HDTV is a better avenue to test video than a projector. You've said your video looks great on your projector after using DVD2ONE, which tells me you must not have something setup correctly, because myself and a lot of users over at doom (and some here) are clearly seeing the problems with DVD2ONE.

  18. IvIark,

No matter how long you're sat in front of your PC, it still takes several hours for CCE to run through it's process.
I can encode with CCE for a single hour and get better quality than DVD2ONE. And I can encode for a few hours, which takes only SECONDS OF MY TIME, and have MUCH better quality.

As for the results being outstanding, well you're just obviously a "selective perfectionist".
That's right. AS I've said multiple times, and also in this very thread, I will split to 2 DVDs depending on the movie. However, I've got a technique which gives outstanding quality with most movies on a single DVD when encoding is still required.

I did Blackadder with DVD2One the other day and could see the results were diminished quality so decided to run it through CCE. Guess what ... still diminished quality albeit better than the original DVD2One results.
Duh! Of course, ANY recompression will give diminished quality. But if you use CCE, and know what you're doing, the results are MUCH better than DVD2ONE. And either way takes very little of my time. Who cares if the computer is processing while I'm sleeping or working on another project.

So my question to you is: Why are you prepared to put up with drop in quality with CCE rather than put onto 2 $0.80 disks especially considering that you won't have to lift your arse up from the comfy seats of your home cinema? Is $0.80 OK but no way $1.60? That hardly fits in with the impression of yourself you've been trying to put forward.
If you read my earlier post, you would see where I've already answered that. Maybe if I type slower, you will understand. hehe

    1) I've got a changer, so I dont' have to get off my arse to change disks.
    2) I already split some movies to 2 DVDs if I want to retain 100% quality. This costs $1.60, which is no big deal.
    3) I have a method to encode a move for 1 DVDR with CCE that gives excellent quality. Since it only takes seconds of my time to set it up, it's nice to get the movie on 1 DVDR when you would be hard pressed to tell the difference even on high end equipment. I can't say the same about DVD2ONE (see the doom9 forums also.)

You've done nothing but bash DVD2One
That's right, and I'm not trying to bash it. Just trying to get people to realize that they should consider preserving more of the quality of their video, yet still fit it on a single DVDR. They might regret later when they see all that artifacting on their future HDTV.

I've encoded many DVDs so far using CCE, and the quality is great. I already own it, and it takes very little time to use, so I see no point in switchign to a different product which I've been disappointed with the results (and not the only one, see the doom forums.)

Jason, I'm sorry but I make it a policy never to read the profile of people that are inanely boring.
Sure, yet you waste 20 minutes typing up a reply. LOL!

Did a test on a multi episode dvd using dvd2one. The episodes are 7 x 4:3 PAL full screen approx 28 mins each, total time 3hrs 20mins. Ripped the vobs (leaving out the 1st 8mb vob) to hdd, stripped out the video & audio streams using vobedit 0.6. Authored to titleset with Ifoedit 0.95 (no chapter points yet). Ran titleset folder through dvd2one to transcode down to 4.36GB, burned with Nero onto dvdrw. Disc played ok, some minor 'pulsing' (once per sec.) evident in darker background scenes. Overall I'm impressed with results viewed on a 26" (68 cm) TV.

  21. Your professionally calibrated TV?? HAHAHAH! What a joke! Whoever sold you that is laughing all the way to the bank. I can calibrate my own TV I think your DVD2One problems are user errors. I will put it in simple terms for you. What does a projector do? It displays a picture on a screen. What does a TV do? It displays a picture on a screen. Are you too stupid to realize this?? I think you are. Your HDTV gives how many lines of resolution horizontally? It gives 1080 at the most but since you are using a DVD it gives 720. My projector gives 1024 lines of resolution. So a 720 LOR dvd would be the same as your HDTV. Your logic, as usual, is flawed at best. Why don't you think before you write and stop making an ass out of yourself. If you want to troll this board, go away, none of us want you here.

  22. I have had the full version of dvd2one for a few days now,and overall i am happy with it,i've done about 5 films with it,first was pearl harbour 3hr film, which it done in 20 mins, finished film was pretty good quality.Only one film seemed nearer to video cd quality than dvd quality.I used to spend up to 18 hours in a few cases with tmpgenc using high quality settings for long films,i always used tmpgenc for the last few months but will stick with dvd2one now.

Actually mike07, they are only 480 lines. Interlace (I) or progressive (P), depending on your DVD player...

Just use the wizard, create a data disk, drag the folders in and it should work fine....It will even recognize the blank as a dvd and not a cdr , so no need to select any other settings.

I have so much fun showing everyone what a dumb ass u are. So what u are saying is a Projection is not a TV or sold as a HDTV well then lets just do a little looking, Sony what , what is this I see, A sony KP-65WV600 HDTV projection TV, well maybe sony does not know they can not call it a tv, shit we better let them know, Oh maybe it is a projection TV that is not a projector, Well you are still wrong ass, if u ever took apart a projection tv u will see a projector mounted in it going to a mirror that is displayed on the screen, Just like to Barco Projector That I use to test, and do not even think about saying anything about your high end equipment, The Barco's go for around $65,000. You do have internet, maybe u should stop looking at profiles and do a little research. Oh my a JVC AV-48P30 is also a HDTV better let them know false advertisment, But just incase u want a projection LCD TV a sony KF-60XBR800. Well have fun making another statement that makes an ass of yourself. And since u got a HDTV that had to be pro. calibrated, I think this whole forum has some swamp land for u.

I disagree. It's completely fair to compare tools that are available to me. TMPGenc is a substitute for CCE, and it's only about $40. So you can go with better quality with the TMPGenc method or with a faster encode with DVD2ONE method.

I'm not sure I understand this, as if you have to encode using cce then you have to use something like Maestro to convert the m2v and ac3 to vob's, right?
    How is that faster?
