  1. Just wondering what the OS of preferance is in this forum. So far from what ive read it looks like XP is on top. If anyone uses linux or any other OS please post it. Im gettin' ready to buy a Canopus ADVC100 and at the moment im running 2k, but it seems as though a lot of people like XP and im thinking converting over to XP and just wanted some input.

    Thanks to all who respond,

I wouldn't bother upgrading. XP and 2K are almost the exact same operating system. Some people claim that XP is more stable than 2K but I doubt it. All I know is that I use 2K and I have never had a problem capturing from my ADVC-100 in 2K. Just stick with 2K and save yourself $99 or $199 that you would have spent on XP.

  3. Thanks a lot for your response. As for the stability part, i kind of figured 2k would beat out XP seeing as 2k's been out longer. Well, thats good news for me =). Now all i have to do is order my canopus on as soon as newegg.com has some in stock. Well, that and my firewire card. Oh yeah, does it matter which firewire card i get? Or are they all pretty much the same? Ive seen some with Texas Instrument chips and such and im wondering if the chips make any kind of difference when i comes to perpormance and or stability.

    Thanks again to all

Word on the street is that the canopus will sometimes have problems with the ti chipset... if i were you i would look for a different firewire card... other than that its a great product
