I have an avi file, that is about 1.59gb (about 9 min long) and I was wanting to know how long it would take to encode to mpeg 2 (dvd). I have a 1.3ghz processor, 128mb ram and windows Me. I have read a guide and it took the guy 6 hours to encode it. I just didn't know if this was about right. Thanks

its much much more complicated then just the length of the avi and its size.. it all depends on what software your using to encode, what res your trying to cap into, svcd or vcd encode, the bitrate, your cpu, etc etc etc.. your going to have to give us much much more then that for any1 to give you a reasonable guess. but with your system.. if you were trying to go for the best quality.. id have to throw out a random guess of 1-1.5hrs.. again.. depends on a whole lot of things tho.. so it could be 5x less then that or 5x more.. all depends on what your aiming for here and what all your working w/.
good luck, hope this was some what helpful.
