  1. I've tried everyting I can think of to convert ac3 audio into a wav file. Headac3he wont work, I've tried the ac3 tool and that gives me an error 5 after I analyze the ac3 file that I used nandub to extract from the avi.
I've tried usin nero wave editor but that program wouldnt even open the file up. I've even tried inputing the ac3 file into TMPG as the audio source(before and after extraction) but it encodes for about 20 min and then the audio just stops. Does anybody have any Ideas?

Azid - works for me when headac3he doesn't. (Although it is the utility that headac3he uses, so I don't know why one works and the other doesn't.) It operates from the command line so I hope you can do that, the format is: Azid [input filename] [output filename]. Don't forget to include the complete pathnames.

Did you scan the avi for bad frames? I've also read in one of the forums; about someone using Nero's wave editor.........look it up.
But some files are just corrupt......... don't waste too much time on this........download it again. D.C.

Maybe your AC3 sound is bad.
Try this program which will fix the AC3 sound if its bad:

  6. My new "best friend" is Ac3Decoder. Soooo simple to use, no command line stuff. (I never could get a good download of headac3he, and BeSweet was too confusing for my simple mind ) "Found" a copy of Ac3Decoder to download and it works like a charm. Saved my .wav file in virtual dub, changed the extension to .ac3 and decoded it to a true .wav file with Ac3Decoder. See if you can find it, and you won't be sorry!
