  1. Any ideas?
TMPGenc has a jerky picture during fast motion. I'm using the standard TMPGenc template, NTSC. It works fine when backing up to SVCD.

  2. I've always had the same problem. I've played with bit rates and all other types of setting but nothing ever worked.

    Here's my experience:

TMPGEnc works well when the source is from a DVD (Vob files)

I experience the same similar problem when I get raw AVI from an 8mm or from my video capturing. I was using VideoWave3 and Adobe Premier 6 when I experience this problem. However, when I switched to VideoWave 5, I stopped getting this problem from TMPGEnc. Also, I've been using the AVI directly into Ulead DVD wokshop and letting this software convert for me and I haven't receive the fast motion problems.

My conclusion is that its a combination of the source that TMPGEnc doesn't like. If its a raw AVI try using Ulead DVD Workshop with your raw AVI. You do need a lot of hard drive space to do this!

  4. Try playing with the top and bottom fields..that will give you jerky movie it your movie is top field and you transcode it using tmpgenc bottom field it will give you that..and try playing around vbr instead of cbr..vbr will give you better result..

    just my .02 cents

  5. My problem is similar, however the jerkiness only happens when I play the burned DVD on my PC. It plays fine on my Pioneer 343. I use TMPG and Ulead Movie Factory 2.0. I've worked out a bunch of other glitches , but this one has me baffled. Field order doesn't change anything.
