Firstly - I'm sorry for the second post here - but this has really wound me up now.

I am trying to encode a 104min movie to 1 VCD. I'm not too bothered about the quality.

I have captured the file in a 20gig avi. To make it more manageable I used divx to compress it. I now want to make a mpeg, VCD compatible, from the divx compressed file.

I used the bitrate calculator, and worked out that on an 80min CD I need to have a video bitrate of around 750kb/sec and and audio rate of 128 kb/sec (keeping it at 44100hz). I have done this 3 times now - and by all accounts, it should work.

I keep getting a file which is 1gig or greater, and I can't get it any smaller no matter how low I bring the bitrate.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm using VirtualDub for the capture and encode to divx. TMPGenc for the compression to mpeg.

Please - any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
