After reading many different forums, I think I am more confused now then I ever was. I cannot tell you how many different tools I have downloaded.
Now for my question: Just exactly what are the Bare Minimum Tools that I need? What I want to do is download a movie from Kazaalite and burn onto a DVD. I have the SonyDRU-5ooa Burner.
Would TMPGenc, Ulead Movie Factory and Nero be enough for what I want to do? Do I need all three?

You only need those 2: TMPGEnc (for encoding) and Ulead Movie Factory (for authoring and burning to DVD)
the steps are pretty simple: Use TMPGEnc's Project Wizard, choose DVD, then follow the wizard, then after several hours encoding, you will have the .mpg files. Import those mpg files in Ulead Movie Favtory then burn to DVD. -
Thank you Dodzz for getting back so quickly!
Finally I have an answer to a question I should have asked a long time ago. Wish me luck, I have been trying to do this for so long that my trial time with Tmpgenc has expired. I refuse to give up!
Thanks again,

I would sugest one more (don't remember name but it should be here in guides) for checking bad frames and errors before encoding. It should save some trouble with out-of-sync issues.
Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
Ah donpedro is right especially you're downloading movies off the kazaa thing. But I don't know the name of the program either, check out the guides on the left of this page..
